La fortificación del Reino de Valencia en la década de1640 a la luz de la revolución militar

This article proposes a study of the traditions in defensive architecture that concurred in the projects designed by Spanish military engineers for the fortification of the Valencian frontier in 1648 and 1649, in the context of the War of Catalonia (1640-1652). For this it is essential to follow the route of the Valencian adaptations to the military revolution in the matter of fortifications throughout the sixteenth century and compare them with those brought to Valencia in 1641 by the Marquis of Leganes and his engineers from the school of Milan.

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo el estudio y análisis del reclutamiento mediante el proceso de quintas en la ciudad de Valencia y las poblaciones incluidas en su jurisdicción durante un período que se iniciaría en 1717 con la primera quinta que Felipe V realizó una vez finalizada la guerra de Sucesión. El año que cierra el período analizado corresponde a 1762, cuando tuvo lugar la última quinta realizada antes de la instauración por Carlos III de este proceso de reclutamiento con carácter anual. This research aims to analyze recruitment by quintas, Spanish word for recruitment levies by lot, in the city of Valencia and the townships included in its jurisdictional area. The analyzed period began in 1717 with the first levie decreted by king Philip V once the War of Spanish Succession was over. Applied this levie in the kingdom of Valencia, this was the first application of levies by lot. The closing year for the reported period up to 1762, whith the last levy made by king Charles III before the establishment of the annual periodicity for the recruitment process.
